Since 1972, the Columbia Figure Skating Club (CFSC) has
provided area skaters with opportunities to pursue recreational and competitive skating. CFSC is a non-profit member club of the United States Figure Skating (USFS) and the Capital Regional Council of Figure Skating Clubs. The Home Rink of the Columbia Figure Skating Club is the Columbia Ice Rink, located in the Oakland Mills Village Center in Columbia, MD.
Skating membership in CFSC includes membership in the US Figure Skating, offering members the opportunity to participate in US Figure Skating sanctioned achievement tests and enter competitions that are qualifying events for the National Championships, and providing them with a subscription to SKATING magazine, the official publication of US Figure Skating.
Members include competitive and recreational skaters, elementary school children and adults, and skill levels range from skaters who are participating in the USFS basic skills program up through competitors at the national level. Very young skaters benefit from family participation and family membership packages are available.
Other Membership Benefits include:
- Skating skills development through the “Glide with Pride” Junior Instructor Program.
- Opportunities for private lessons with professional instructors affiliated with the Club.
- Recitals for all skaters who wish to participate.
- Regular skating sessions and activities with skaters sharing similar enthusiasm, skills, and goals.
